About Me

Hi! I'm Kara.

My Story

I've always been a naturally organized person. When there's mess in my space, I can't fully relax until everything is sorted. After moving into my first condo and gaining the freedom to reconfigure the closets, I realized how much I loved the process of designing and implementing storage solutions.

In 2021, my journey with organizing took on a deeper meaning when my father, who had lived independently my entire life, was diagnosed with dementia. Returning home to New York, I discovered he had been struggling for some time. His home had turned into a true hoarding situation, and he felt so embarrassed that bringing in outside help wasn’t an option. Working with him through this experience helped me refine my approach to navigating difficult organizing challenges. I had to set aside my own ideas about how his space should look and really listen to understand how he wanted it to function. Together, we found ways to make his home both safe and functional, while still honoring his preferences, allowing us to bring in home aide support.

My professional background in grant management has also shaped my approach to organizing. In that role, meticulous organization and attention to detail were crucial, and those skills translate directly to my home organizing work.

After organizing my own spaces, helping my father, and supporting friends with their organizing challenges, I decided to turn my passion into a profession—and thus, Kara Styles Closets was born. I can't wait to help you get organized!
